First Settled in 1844, Carrollton is a fully developed business center and residential community. Within more than half of the city developed, there is still plenty of room for growth. Carrollton residents are proud of the steady corporate growth in the area, but the city also has taken steps to preserve its heritage, as evidenced by the old downtown area with its gazebo-centered square.
Most residential development has occurred in the northern part of the city, which is actually in Denton County, with major subdivisions of custom homes. Carrollton has a mix of new and previously owned homes in all styles and price ranges. Bordering several major highways, Carrollton is a convenient commute, especially to DFW International Airport.
The Brookhaven and North Lake campuses of the Dallas County Community College District are located nearby in Farmers Branch and Irving, respectively, Nearby, in Denton, you'll find the University of North Texas and Texas Woman's University.
